Abstract

In this double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multicenter study, we investigated the safety and efficacy of amoxicillin combination therapy of amoxicillin-clavulanic acid for acute respiratory distress with severe mucocoelements in the form of polypose nasopharyngol. The inclusion criteria were: symptomatology (asthma, expectoration, conjunctivitis, bronchiolite, bronchiolite exacerbations, sinusite, pneumopathies, exacerbations). The main efficacy measures were soulmission rate, hospitalization rate, symptomatology improvement, adverse events, cost and hospitalization rates. In the treatment group, amoxicillin combination therapy significantly increased hospitalization rate (28.2%, 21.9% vs. 13.8%; P <.001), but not all adverse events were statistically different between the two groups. The amoxicillin combination treatment significantly improved symptomology (16.3%, 19.7% vs. 10.3%; P <.001), but did not change the ORC score. The amoxicillin combination therapy is well tolerated. This combination therapy is safe and well tolerated and may be of interest for patients with severe mucocoelements in the form of polypose nasopharyngol. Our results suggest that this combination therapy may be useful for patients with severe mucocoelements in the form of polypose nasopharyngol.
