Abstract

The main aim of this study was to examine the safety and efficacy of amoxil for the management of severe oral ulcer disease (SDUG) and the association of amoxil with other drugs in the same context of SDUG. A total of 634 patients with SDUG were enrolled from the Medical Outcomes Research Society International (MOUI) Special Outcomes Research Group (SOPREG) of the University College London Medical Center (UCLM). Patients were randomly assigned to receive placebo or amoxil, and patients were followed up prospectively up for up to 6 months. Patients were blinded to treatment. After treatment, patients were evaluated by the investigator for their satisfaction with the use of amoxil. The main outcomes were patients' satisfaction with the use of amoxil, duration of treatment, and duration of follow-up. A total of 534 patients were enrolled in the study. Patients who completed the study showed significantly improved satisfaction with the use of amoxil. The frequency of complications was significantly lower in patients treated with amoxil than in those who completed the study.
